Meet Our Team

EXECUTIVE/ADMIN

Dr. Nyeisha DeWitt

CEO / Founder

Dr. Nyeisha DeWitt is an investor, serial entrepreneur and CEO of Oakland Natives Give Back Fund, Inc., which she founded in 2008 to exemplify an evolved concept of philanthropy and raise awareness around the importance of daily attendance. Her unique background and personal journey uncovered the greatest crack in the foundation of a child’s success: chronic absenteeism, and has given her the ability to see it from a multitude of perspectives.

She is a high school dropout, an educator, a mother of children with unique learning abilities, and a funder who supports using out-of-the-box thinking to research solutions and combat this national crisis. Since inception, ONGB has invested nearly $7M in resources toward that end.
Nyeisha holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology from the University of California, Berkeley. Her Master’s Degree in Teaching and Doctoral Degree in Organization and Leadership in Education, were both earned from the University of San Francisco.

Elmira Guzon

Assistant to the CEO/ Admin Virtual Assistant

Ira is the assistant to the CEO of Oakland Natives Give Back, and of the administrative department. She helps develop processes, maintain subscriptions, tools and databases. She also oversees the marketing team and gives inputs for content to the organization’s social media and website.

As a Psychology major, she also assists in screening some applicants when necessary. Ira considers herself as a jack of all trades, as she is willing to take any tasks and use any tools that the organization needs her to use. She loves to communicate, plays ukulele once in a while, but most of all she loves working hard for her little boy’s future.

Jennet Castro

Finance Virtual Assistant

Jennet joined Oakland Natives Give Back as a consultant in April 2021. She helps with the finance side of the organization and has been working closely with the accounting team to make sure they have all the information they need for bookkeeping and reporting.

She is a graduate of Bachelor of Science in Financial Management and is working on her Masteral Degree in Business Administration. Having been inspired by her three years of experience in non-profit accounting, she is actively doing charitable activities in her local area especially when in need. When not at work, you’ll find Jennet appreciating the beautiful beaches of the Philippines through freediving, mermaiding, or just simply enjoying the sunset.

Maddy Cruz

Executive Personal Assistant

Maddy is the marketing assistant of Oakland Natives Give Back. She helps the team create visual and marketing materials as well as help the business grow its social media accounts with strategic planning and engaging content.

She is a licensed financial advisor and is now taking her 3rd license as a Certified Investment Solicitor. She is also part of a local non-profit organization that helps our brethren Aeta and street children.

Wanda Cherry

Office Coordinator

Wanda is the one you see once you enter the ONGB office. She greets you with a smile and a happy tone. Her main role is to keep the office organized and make sure that all supplies are complete to keep the office operations moving smoothly.

She loves strawberry shortcakes very much because she’s as sweet as they are. As sweet as she can be, Wanda can also be a person with a very strong personality and will.

RESEARCH, STRATEGY & ORGANIZATIONAL EFFECTIVENESS

Dr. Chyna Hill

Director

Dr. Hill is passionate about conducting inclusive research, designing equitable processes, and driving organizational strategy.

In her spare time, Dr. Hill enjoys traveling, playing video games, and binge-watching random shows on Netflix. When asked why she’s chosen to work for ONGB, Dr. Hill noted, “I’ve always strived to leave people in a better state than I’ve found them. At ONGB, we’re striving to do just that.” Dr. Hill is looking forward to creating opportunities that otherwise may not exist. Dr. Hill has a Ph.D. in Social Work from the University of Southern California, an MSW from the University of Southern California, an MA in Africana Women’s Studies, and a BA in Women and Gender Studies from the University of South Florida.

Carren Gopez

Research, Strategy, & Organizational Effectiveness Assistant

Carren provides assistance to Oakland Natives Give Back as one of its staff for support. Currently assisting the Research, Strategy, & Organizational Effectiveness Director, she oversees her schedule, assists with research and collection of data which are vital to helping Dr. Hill find ways to make the organization more effective

With her knack for details, she also assists in editing and formatting documents for the organization. Carren believes in the importance of hard work and teachability. One can achieve more when dedication and openness towards learning are added to one’s skill set.

Dyese Hunt

Director

Dyese is the Director of Programs for Oakland Natives Give Back. She will be supporting the staff who are supporting YOU! She will also help with guiding you through career readiness development.

Quenee Austria

Programs Virtual Assistant

Quenee has experience working as a personal assistant of entrepreneurs. She was a former ESL Teacher, which build up her confidence in facing and talking to people from all parts of the world.

She took training that equipped her with technical skills that she use now in fulfilling her role as the Program Director’s virtual assistant. She is in charge of managing the director’s to-dos and schedule. She also communicates with the team under Dyese’s supervision for reminders, announcements, concerns, or follow-ups. She takes the meeting notes for the meetings as well. Her duty also includes helping the director arrange her tasks and schedules and making sure she gets everything done on time.

Kirsten Stephenson

Programs Associate

Kirsten has experience in working with children who have special needs. She later transitioned to working with nonprofits where she has gained extensive experience working with community partners, parents, and youth.

Kirsten received an AA in Social Behavioral Sciences and Math and Sciences. She envisions Oakland Native Gives Back to assure that all students in Northern California have the tools and necessities needed to ensure that they can sustain and or improve their daily school attendance. She believes that students should have access to programs that can help them navigate through the entirety of their school life.
Kirsten is committed to working with community partners, school staff, parents, and students to help drive daily school attendance.

Sherri L. Grier

Achievement Coordinator

Sherri is a seasoned youth professional with wide experience in working with youth and women of all ages. She loves teaching, building, and managing structured programs.

Among the important roles in life that she takes is as a spiritual coag, a powerful speaker, and an inspirational writer, which makes her an asset to the community She has a Master’s in Organizational Leadership and Doctorate in Divinity with a license as a minister with the Centers for Spiritual Living. Supporting women, writing inspirational columns, and hanging out with her friends are the things she does during her spare time. She’s a proud mom to an aspiring actress who received MFA from Columbia in New York City.

Stefon C. Dent

Achievement Coordinator

Stefon is a social service worker with 16 years of extensive experience working with at-risk youth and young adults as a program manager, achievement coordinator, case manager, and mental health facilitator.

He has a passion for self-development and transformation and views life from different lenses. He loves studying and practicing the Law of Attraction, Quantum Physics, MetaPhysics, and history. He enjoys life through nature, travel, dance, arts, intellectual advancement, and humanitarianism. He’s a husband to an amazing woman, a father to a beautiful child, and a stepfather to two young boys who idealize his character.

Heather Davis

Achievement Coach

Heather is an Oakland Native studying ASL at Berkeley City College. She has such a passion for fashion, hair, nails, and FOOD.

If she’s not cooking during her spare time she’s playing with her dog until he gets super annoyed with her. She loves to watch action movies with a big bowl of caramel popcorn. Ask her what her favorite Disney channel movies are because she can talk about Disney forever.

Ryan Glover

Achievement Coach

Ryan is a student athlete at UC Berkeley, pursuing his masters and playing football. He is an Achievement Coach at ONGB working alongside Skyline High School to help build our strategic partnership and help Skyline students who suffer from absenteeism.

As a college graduate, he understand the importance of high school so he hopes his efforts can have a long-term effect on Oakland high schoolers.

Nakeyma Randle

Facilitator, Girls Equity Movement (GEMS)

Nakeyma is an entrepreneur and has been involved with Oakland Natives Gives Back since 2010. She first joined as a volunteer and has held a number of roles since including Oakland Natives Gives Back Director of External Affairs & Strategic Partnership and Chief of Staff.

You will get to know Nakeyma as your lead facilitator on Mondays and Wednesdays. She will be guiding you through what it takes to be an entrepreneur and how to be a strong, healthy and successful women.

Erin Gray

Co-Founder

Kristal Raheem

GEMS Coordinator

After earning her master’s degree in Education Policy, Organization, and Leadership, Kristal returned home to Oakland to continue her growth as a community-based educator and researcher.

She chose to work with ONGB to support the educational and personal development of youth in her hometown and from around the world. In her spare time, she enjoys writing, traveling, and researching solutions to address health disparities in her community. Raheem is looking forward to supporting youth as they pursue their life purpose, while also showing them how to practice self-care on their journey.”
